据美国网站报道,下一代雪佛兰考维特将采用中置引擎。这一说法已经流传多年，而2016款科迈罗重量大幅降低后将与现行版考维特非常接近。这也要求下一代考维特必须要进行大幅提升，只有这样才能使其与新一代科迈罗有更大不同。有趣的是，据该网站报道，现行版考维特也曾考虑采用中置引擎，但该计划在通用总裁鲍勃-卢茨和考维特总工程师华莱士退休后被搁置。如果真是这样，那么新一代车型的开发工作或许已经完成。

 

Next-generation Corvette to be mid-engine

The rumor mill is back in action as Motor Trend is reporting multiple sources have confirmed the next-generation Corvette will feature a mid-mounted engine.

 

While this has been rumored for years, the magazine suggests the drastic weight reductions on the 2016 Camaro will bring it relatively close to the current Corvette. This could require the next-generation Corvette to be substantially different to help distance itself from the new Camaro.

 

Interestingly, the magazine is also reporting the current Corvette was slated to be mid-engined but those plans were shelved when Bob Lutz and Corvette chief engineer Tom Wallace retired. If this is correct, some development work could already be completed and incorporated into the next-generation model.

 

While everything sounds like speculation and fantasy, we might as well mention the most tantalizing part - a potential Cadillac supercar to battle the Audi R8.
