奔驰官员表示,奔驰将在下月开幕的洛杉矶车展发布S级超长轴距版,不过该车将被命名为“迈巴赫”。奔驰目前提供的是S级轿车标准版（车长5116毫米/轴距3035毫米）和长轴距版（车长5246毫米/轴距3165毫米），而在洛杉矶车展亮相的S级迈巴赫车长将达到5500毫米，这额外增加的254毫米主要用来加长轴距。奔驰官员表示，S级迈巴赫是不折不扣的高端版本，而迈巴赫也将成为继AMG之后奔驰另一个子品牌。这意味着未来的奔驰超豪华车型都将被命名为“迈巴赫”，而继S级之后下一款迈巴赫车型将是GL级的高端版本。而未来的S级轿跑车/敞篷车也将同样提供迈巴赫超豪华版本。

 

Mercedes-Benz confirms Maybach name and next month debut for extra-long S-Class

A Mercedes-Benz official has confirmed the extra-long S-Class will be unveiled next month at the Los Angeles Auto Show with the "Maybach" moniker.

 

Mercedes-Benz is currently offering the S-Class Sedan in standard (5116mm long / 3035mm wheelbase) and long wheelbase (5246mm long / 3165mm wheelbase) versions but pretty soon an extra-long version will be added to the range and will resurrect the Maybach moniker. Talking to Car & Driver, Mercedes-Benz's head of global design Gordon Wagener said the car will be about 5500mm long so the extra 254mm will mostly go into the wheelbase.

 

Wagener described the S-Class Maybach as being the automotive representation of "haute couture" and he also announced "Maybach" will become a sub-brand of the company in the same vein as AMG. This means future extra luxurious versions of Mercedes-Benz models will be commercialized with the Maybach name, with the next car likely being a higher-specification GL. Further down the line, the S-Class Coupe and/or Convertible could receive the same treatment.
