McLaren 675LT Spider arrives in Geneva as sold-out model
McLaren has given the 675LT Spider a proper premiere after showing it online in December, but you can’t get one as all units have already been sold.
Sitting alongside a bespoke P1 featuring an exposed carbon fiber, the 675LT Spider is basically a forbidden fruit, not because it’s restricted to select markets, but due to the reason all 500 units have already found a buyer. McLaren had no problems selling the whole batch of cars planned for production in less than a month which perhaps should not come as a surprise since the model itself came to life as a response to “significant customer demand.”
As the name of the car implies, it’s basically a Spider version of the 675LT Coupe, so it has a slightly sportier body with an active Longtail airbrake and a titanium exhaust system with dual tips. To shave off 35.2 pounds (16 kilograms), the car comes as standard without an air conditioning system, but those 500 customers can add it back without having to pay more.
The familiar biturbo 3.8-liter V8 engine comes with revised turbochargers, cylinder heads, and new exhaust manifolds to extract an additional 24 hp (18 kW) and 16 lb-ft (22 Nm) compared to the regular 650S Spider. As a result, the 675LT Spider’s engine now delivers a devilish 666 hp (496 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque.
In terms of performance, the sold-out McLaren needs just 2.9 seconds until 62 mph (100 kph) and 8.1 seconds until 124 mph (200 kph) before it tops out at 203 mph (326 kph.)
