Mercedes-AMG GLC43 goes official with 362 hp
Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off the new GLC43 ahead of its debut at the New York Auto Show.
Described as a "particularly dynamic addition" to the GLC lineup, the performance-oriented model has a sporty front fascia with a diamond radiator grille and a chrome front splitter. The model has also been equipped with black mirror caps and 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels with a two-tone finish. The sporty styling continues out back as designers installed a new rear bumper and a four-tailpipe sports exhaust system.
The interior largely carries over but there are a handful of unique touches including a multifunction sports steering wheel, sports seats, and an AMG instrument cluster with a checkered flag motif.
Power is provided by a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission and a rear-biased AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system which enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.
To keep things under control, engineers installed an AMG Ride Control sport suspension with adaptive dampers that have three different settings: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus. The crossover also boasts a high-performance braking system, a speed-sensitive sport steering system, and an AMG Dynamic Select system which modifies the response of the engine, transmission, suspension and steering system.
The Mercedes-AMG GLC43 AMG will go on sale in the United States late this year and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
