2017 Kia Cadenza goes official in New York
Kia has used the New York Auto Show to introduce the 2017 Cadenza.
Set to go on sale late this year, the redesigned model has shaper styling which follows in the footsteps of the Optima. Kia was coy on specifics but the car features a prominent tiger nose grille which is flanked by angular headlights with Z-shaped LED accents. Moving further back, we can see a sportier roofline, a dynamic greenhouse, and plenty of chrome trim. Other notable highlights include LED taillights, a dual exhaust system, and 18- or 19-inch alloy wheels.
The model is the same length as its predecessor but engineers have made the car slightly wider and lower than the outgoing model. The wheelbase is also a tad longer which helps to provide an additional half-inch of rear-seat legroom.
Speaking of the interior, it's noticeably improved as it has higher quality materials and a modern design. Kia was tight-lipped about specifications but confirmed the Cadenza has been equipped with improved seats and a new UVO infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
A variety of different options will be available including a head up display, a wireless smartphone charger, and a Harman/Kardon audio system. Customers can also order Nappa leather upholstery.
On the safety front, the Cadenza can be equipped with an Advanced Smart Cruise Control system, a Lane Departure Warning system, and a Forward Collision Warning system with Autonomous Emergency Braking function.
Power is provided by a 3.3-liter V6 engine which produces an estimated 290 horsepower. It is connected to a new eight-speed automatic transmission which is lighter and more responsive than the previous six-speed automatic gearbox.
