Kia Sorento slated for a significant facelift

The Kia Sorento is only a couple of years old but it appears the company is already working on a facelifted variant.

 

Spied on the back of a trailer, the heavily camouflaged prototype features a revised grille and restyled headlights. The rear end is also disguised and appears to have a new rear bumper and a sportier dual exhaust system.

 

Little else is known about the model but the crossover is expected to receive an updated interior that features higher quality materials and an improved design. Nothing is official as of yet but the interior is expected to be influenced by the recently introduced Mohave.

 

Technical details remain elusive but our spy photographer notes the current Sorento is codenamed UM while this particular prototype is codenamed QM. Kia doesn't normally change the codename for facelifted model so this suggests the facelifted Sorento will receive some significant modifications which may include a revised suspension and an updated engine lineup.

 

There's no word on specifics but the current model can be equipped with three different engines in the United States including a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 185 horsepower, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 240 hp, and a 3.3-liter V6 that develops 290 hp.
