美国国家公路交通安全管理局(National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)和美国高速公路安全保险协会（Insurance Institute for Highway Safety）近日宣布，20家车企签署协议，承诺在2022年9月1日前为旗下车型标配自动紧急制动系统。该项协议涵盖了超过 99%在美国市场销售的车型，这些车企包括奥迪、宝马、菲亚特克莱斯勒、福特、通用、本田、现代、捷豹路虎、起亚、玛莎拉蒂、马自达、奔驰、三菱、日产、保时捷、斯巴鲁、特斯拉、丰田、大众和沃尔沃。上述两家机构称，该项协议是“史无前例的”，这将使上述车企比按照常规程序提前三年标配自动紧急制动系统。根据美国高速公路安全保险协会的估计，此项配置将在三年内避免2.8万起车辆撞击事故的发生并使受伤人数减少1.2万人。车辆标配自动紧急制动系统对于消费者来说是一项优惠措施，而上述两家机构还将推动车企持续不断的研发新的系统以降低车辆撞击行人的风险。

20 automakers to make automatic emergency braking systems standard equipment

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have announced 20 automakers have committed to make automatic emergency braking systems standard equipment on virtually all new cars by September 1st, 2022.

 

The agreement covers more than 99 percent of the U.S. auto market and includes key players such as Audi, BMW, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar Land Rover, Kia, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen, and Volvo.

 

The agencies call the agreement "unprecedented" as it will make automatic emergency braking systems standard equipment nearly three years faster than what could be achieved through the regulatory process. According to IIHS estimates, this will prevent nearly 28,000 crashes and 12,000 injuries over the course of the three year period.

 

The decision to make automatic emergency braking systems standard equipment is a boon for consumers but the agencies are pushing for the continued development of the systems to reduce the risk of collisions with pedestrians.
