The end result isn't particularly attractive but the renderings show a two-door convertible with a large rear trunk that houses a power retractable soft top. Additional changes are limited so the model would presumably be powered by an assortment of familiar engine including a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 that produces 362 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.

 

While some critics might pan the idea, Michael Kelz noted he is a fan of the Range Rover Evoque Convertible and believes a GLC Convertible could be worth doing as consumers have started to show an interest in crossover-based cabriolets. As he explained to Autocar last month, “It would be fun and it’s actually not that much of an engineering challenge."

 

Despite his optimism, the chances of seeing a Mercedes GLC Convertible are relatively slim as Kelz acknowledged there isn't enough room for the vehicle in the company's lineup. Kelz went on to say that another model in the GLC range would have to be axed in order to the GLC Convertible into production.
