Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.2 spied for the first time

Spy photographers have snapped the first photos of what is believed to be the 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.2.

 

Billed as a hardcore version of the 911 GT3 RS, the model has an aggressive front bumper with massive air intakes. The sporty styling continues further back as we can see front fender vents and lightweight center-locking wheels. The prototype is still in the early stages of the development but it appears the model will have a new rear bumper and a rear diffuser sourced from the 911 R. Lastly, the model has been equipped with a dual exhaust system and a large rear wing.

 

Our photographers couldn't get close enough to snap interior photos but given the model's focus on performance we wouldn't be surprised if the cabin features a number of weight saving measures. In the case of the 911 GT3 RS 4.0, Porsche installed lightweight door panels and cloth door pulls. That particular model also had a roll cage, carbon fiber trim, and six-point racing harnesses.

 

As the name suggests, the car is expected to be powered by a 4.2-liter six-cylinder engine. Nothing is official as of yet but speculation suggests the engine will produce more than 500 horsepower.
