福特电动车项目总监Kevin Layden近日表示，福特不会像通用和特斯拉那样单纯追求电动车续航里程，2017款福克斯电动车续航里程为100英里（约合160公里），而不会像雪佛兰Bolt和特斯拉Model 3那样超过200英里（约合322公里）。虽然如此，但2017款车型比2016款车型续航里程还是增加了24英里（约合38.6公里）。这位高管表示，有限的续航里程可以使福特为该车配备体积更小，更轻，价格更平易的电池组，从而降低整车价格。福特将于今年晚些时候发布2017款福克斯电动车。该车将配备高科技仪表群和全新直流快充系统，仅需30分钟就能充满80%电量。该车还将配备专门开发的制动引导（Brake Coach）功能，可以指导驾驶员通过车辆配备的制动能量回收系统最大限度获取能量。

 

Ford won't chase Tesla, 2017 Focus Electric will only have a 100 mile range

Ford's director of electrified powertrain engineering has confirmed the company won't chase General Motors and Tesla by offering an electric vehicle with a range in excess of 200 miles.

 

Speaking to Automotive News at the SAE World Congress in Detroit last week, Kevin Layden said the 2017 Focus Electric will have a range of 100 miles which is notably less than the Chevrolet Bolt and the Tesla Model 3. This also bucks an industry trend which has deemed a 200 mile range necessary to alleviate concerns over range anxiety.

 

Despite this, Layden was upbeat about the model's chances as the 100 mile range is a 24 mile improvement over the 2016 Focus Electric. The executive also noted have the limited range will enable the company to use a smaller, lighter, and cheaper battery pack.

 

Little else is known about the 2017 Focus Electric but the company has already confirmed plans to introduce the model later this year. It will come with a high-tech instrument cluster and an all-new DC fast-charge system that will enable owners to recharge the batteries to 80 percent capacity in approximately 30 minutes. The Focus EV will also have a Brake Coach that teaches drivers how to maximize the energy captured through the car's regenerative braking system.
