VW Golf R Variant Performance 35 concept unveiled at W?rthersee

Volkswagen's W?rthersee festival continues as the company has taken the wraps off the Golf R Variant Performance 35 concept.

 

Created by apprentices from the Sachsen plant in Germany, the one-off model features a hand-painted quartzite and tornado red exterior with a ventilated hood. The car has also been equipped with lightweight alloy wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system with red calipers.

 

Bigger changes occur in the cabin as the model features an airbrushed roof liner with LED stars that mimic Rolls-Royce's starlight headliner. The apprentices also installed a premium audio system with 12 speakers and an output of 2,500 watts. Last but not least, the wagon has electrically retractable cargo floor which holds a unique P 35 child's run bike which is painted to match the exterior of the concept.

 

Power is provided by an upgraded 2.0-liter TSI four-cylinder engine which has been tuned to produce 350 horsepower. Volkswagen declined to release detailed specifications but the engine is likely connected to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission and a 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. If this is the case, the car should be able to accelerate from 0-62 miles per hour in less than 5.1 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
