Here's what the Tesla Model Y could look like

The Tesla Model 3 is a huge success so RM Car Design's Remco Meulendijk has decided to create some renderings of what the upcoming Model Y could look like.

Set to become the latest member of Tesla's "S3XY" lineup, the crossover is based on the Model 3 and features an evolutionary design.  However, the Model Y is distinguished by a sportier front fascia with larger air intakes and additional chrome trim.  The déjà vu design continues further back but Meulendijk added plastic body cladding, a stylish roofline, and a nicely integrated tailgate.

Since the crossover is based on the Model 3, it will have a high-tech powertrain that offers plenty of performance and an impressive range.  There's no word on specifics but the Model 3 can accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in less than six seconds and can travel up to 215 miles on a single charge.  The Model Y will likely have similar performance but its additional weight could hamper acceleration times and range.

Pricing remains a mystery but the Model 3 starts at $35,000 so the Model Y could cost approximately $40,000 when it arrives in a few years.
