2017 Mercedes E-Class Estate unveiled, will come to the U.S.

Mercedes has officially unveiled the 2017 E-Class Wagon. Set to go on sale in the United States early next year, the model follows in the footsteps of the sedan and adopts a stylish exterior that features a familiar front fascia, a gently sloping roof, and LED taillights. The model also comes standard with an Easy-Pack tailgate which can be opened or closed with the touch of a button.

 

The upscale interior features wood trim and a new steering wheel with touch-sensitive control buttons that respond to swiping movements. Drivers will also find an accommodating cargo compartment, a standard third row seat, a new touchpad controller with handwriting recognition technology.

 

An assortment of different options will be available including an ambient lighting system, two 12.3-inch displays, and a Warmth and Comfort package which includes a heated steering wheel, heated armrests, and upgraded heated front seats. Customers can also order an assortment of Drive Pilot technologies including a Distance Pilot Distronic system which can "automatically keep the car the correct distance behind vehicles in front" and follow them at a speed up to 130 miles per hour.

 

In the United States, the E400 Wagon will be powered by a 3.0-liter biturbo V6 engine that produces 329 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. It will be connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission with a standard all-wheel drive system.
