Jeep to start production of Compass, Patriot replacement in January 2017

Automotive News has learned from sources close to Jeep the brand new SUV set to replace the Compass and Patriot is slated to enter production on January 30, 2017 at the factory in Toluca, Mexico. While previous reports were indicating a November public debut at the Sao Paulo show in Brazil, the latest gossip suggests Jeep will reveal the model later this summer. Both reports could technically be true since the SUV could be shown online in the months to come and receive its public debut at the motor show.

 

The Compass, Patriot replacement, it will likely receive the former’s name and is going to be underpinned by an extended configuration of the Small Wide Platform. That means it will have a lot in common with the Renegade, from which it will inherit engines, gearboxes, and other hardware.
