At more than 460 horsepower (343 kilowatts), the Tesla Model S P90D is pretty close to the performance results of many supercars. To be more precise, the 0 to 60 miles per hour (0 to 97 kilometers per hour) takes 2.8 seconds with the optional Ludicrous Mode, which makes the car on par with vehicles such as the Lamborghini Huracan, Ferrari F12tdf, and BAC Mono.

 

So, basically, if the Californian company decides to create a supercar, it only has to design a new aerodynamically-optimized body to match the supercar powertrain. This rendering here, made by Khyzyl Saleem, shows a possible look for a hypothetical Teslasupercar.

 

If you see some familiar lines, it’s just because this project is based on the Saleen S7 and features roughly the same sizes. Yes, probably Tesla now has all that’s needed to create a supercar on its own, but let’s not forget that the manufacturer’s first model, the Roadster, was based on the Lotus Elise.
