现代近日开始测试新一代飞思。这辆测试车采用修改后的现行版飞思车身，但它的内部采用了新的结构，这表明新车最终设计将与这辆测试车有很大不同。测试车的前轮拱进一步外延，轴距也进一步增加。另外还可以看到，测试车的前大灯与新的车身结构很不搭配，车尾的排气管也是分立两侧，而不是像现行版那样中置。据传，新一代飞思将不再采用三门布局，而是双门布局，使之更像一辆轿跑车。因此新车可能会替代劳恩斯轿跑车。至于动力系统，入门级车型仍将搭载一台1.6升四缸涡轮引擎，更高端版本则搭载2.0升四缸涡轮引擎，这也是现代为新的N系列高性能车型专门开发的引擎。目前，新一代飞思仍处于开发早期阶段，预计新车将于2018年首次亮相，这意味着它将作为2019款车型上市。

Hyundai engineers have started evaluating a test mule for a new generation of the Veloster.

 

The new mechanicals are hidden beneath the modified body of the current Veloster, meaning the final design will be very different to what you see here.

 

The modifications made to the body, such as the stretched wheel arches at the front, point towards a longer wheelbase.

 

We can also see that the current Veloster’s headlights barely fit the new structure, and at the rear we can see the actual exhaust tips exit near the sides of the bumper instead of at the center as on the current model.

 

Not much is known about the new model, though we’ve heard Hyundai may ditch the odd three-door layout and go with two doors instead, making the car a proper coupe. In this way the new Veloster could serve as a replacement for the Genesis Coupe whose successor will no longer be part of the Hyundai range.

 

In the powertrain department, the base option will likely be a version of the turbocharged 1.6-liter 4-cylinder found in the current Veloster Turbo. Above this could be a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that Hyundai is developing for its new N range of performance cars.

 

Development is still in the early stages so we’re not expecting a debut until sometime in 2018. That means we should see the new Veloster arrive as a 2019 model.
