宝马将在明年初的底特律车展发布2017款5系车型，不过，宝马会在今年底提前在线发布这款车。而在今年的巴黎车展上，宝马将发布新款X2轿跑型SUV。新款5系将采用渐进式改款，换言之，该车看起来更像一辆缩小版的7系车。由于新车采用CLAR平台，因此会比现行版更大，但由于车身采用更多碳纤维材料，重量将降低100公斤。至于动力系统，新款5系将搭载一系列汽油和柴油涡轮增压引擎。据传将新增加530e和540e插电混动车，它的核心硬件取自330e，但将获得进一步升级以应对更大，更重车身。当然，顶级款M5也将获得升级，新车很可能搭载最新版本的4.4升V8引擎，功率提升至467千瓦/626马力，该车还将首次可选装xDrive全驱系统。

 

2017 BMW 5 Series to be revealed in Detroit

Honestly, we were expecting the next generation BMW 5 Series to arrive at the Paris Motor Show in early October, but a new report is indicating this will happen a few months later – at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show in early 2017.

 

Our friends at BMW Blog claim the executive sedan will make an online premiere before the end of the year and first press drives are scheduled for the beginning of the next year. Instead of showing us the 5 Series in Paris, the Bavarian brand will host the world premiere of the brand new X2 coupe-SUV in the capital of France.

 

Currently in its final stages of development, the new 5 Series is expected to adopt an evolutionary design or, in other words, a scaled down version of the 7 Series flagship limo. Based on the new CLAR platform, it will be slightly bigger than the current model, but will shave up to 220 pounds (100 kilograms) from the curb weight thanks to the use of carbon in the body structure.

 

As one would expect from a BMW mass product, the new 5 Series will be launched with a wide range of petrol and diesel turbocharged engines. New members of the family are rumored to be the 530e and 540e plug-in hybrids using hardware from the 330e, but upgraded for the larger and heavier car.

 

Of course, the range-topping M5 variant will also get a decent upgrade and will likely feature the latest evolution of the 4.4-liter V8 engine, tuned to deliver up to 626 horsepower (467 kilowatts). It is believed the high-performance sedan will also receive an optional xDrive system – for the first time in its history.
