Next-gen Tesla Roadster rendered ahead of 2019 launch

The Californian automaker upgraded the current model earlier this week, boosting the range up to 340 miles (547 kilometers) on a charge, and a brand new Roadster is scheduled to arrive in 2019. The company has been tight-lipped about the development process, but we already know the roadster will “look a little different” and will be “a little faster and a little bigger,” as confirmed by Tesla’s Nordic Countries Manager Peter Bardenfleth-Hansen in May.

 

Details are scarce at the moment, but it is believed the vehicle will be based on the same platform that underpins the Model 3 affordable EV, which means most of the powertrain components will be shared.

 

Taking a look at the attached image, you will easily find resemblance to the Model 3, especially at the front end. The sleek roadster is envisioned with lower roofline compared to the existing model, while other highlights include Model 3-derived wheels and fancy triangle badge on the front fenders.
