近日谍照记者拍到的宝马4系敞篷版采用了选装的M Sport套装，同时车头和车尾进行了一些伪装以掩盖车身改款部分。这些改变就包括新的LED前大灯。4系车家族所有的内外装改款都与去年发布的3系改款车保持一致。不过，现在还不能确定318i搭载的1.5升三缸涡轮引擎是否也会配备在4系车上。难道会有人愿意买一辆搭载了取自Mini三缸引擎的4系轿跑车/敞篷/Gran Coupe四门车？。唯一的答案是价格便宜！在德国搭载三缸引擎的318i售价比搭载四缸引擎的320i便宜了4550欧元。虽然这款4系改款车不会有很大变化，但将于2021年左右发布的新一代车型将从目前的硬顶改为织物软顶。虽然有很多人喜欢硬顶，但不得不承认，敞篷车采用软顶后，重量更轻，软顶收纳后占据行李箱空间更小，实用性更高。

BMW 4-Series Convertible facelift seen with M Sport Package

As it is the case with all other members of the 4-Series lineup, the hard-top cabrio will only receive subtle cosmetic tweaks from BMW’s talented designers. That’s hardly surprising taking into account the 4-Series Convertible has been on sale for less than three years and looks quite fresh, so it does not really need a significant makeover. This prototype right here was rocking an optional M Sport package and had some disguise to hide just about the same array of visual enhancements the other derivatives are set to receive. These changes, including new full-LED headlights, will most likely be visible only to die-hard fans of the Bavarian marque, though.

All of the exterior and interior updates the 4 Series family will feature are going to bring the models in line with the facelifted 3 Series range that came out last year. However, we are not so sure the turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline unit from the 318i will also find its way in the engine bays of the “4”-badged models. After all, why would anyone buy a 4-Series Coupe/Convertible/Gran Coupe with a three-cylinder engine from a Mini? The only answer we can find to this question is the lower starting price, with the 318i being €4,550 cheaper in Germany than the four-cylinder 320i.

While the LCI for the current 4-Series will not bring any dramatic changes, the next-gen will. Codenamed G21, it’s due to come out around 2021 and will allegedly make the switch from a hard top to a fabric roof. Although we are fans of convertibles with metal tops, we can’t deny the fact that a fabric roof makes the car lighter and also more practical since it occupies less space in the trunk when folded. 2021 is still a long way to go, so a lot could happen until then.
