2016 Buick Verano Recalled for Fire Risk

General Motors is recalling 189 2016 Buick Verano sedans for a fire risk, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

 

The affected vehicles are equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine.

 

"The engine fuel-line assembly may be misrouted, allowing the fuel line to contact the surface of the engine," the NHTSA said in its recall summary. "If the fuel line contacts the engine, the fuel line may wear, resulting in a fuel leak and increasing the risk of a fire."

 

On June 20, 2016, a GM employee experienced an engine fire while driving a 2016 Verano, GM told federal safety regulators.

 

The supplier traced the problem to "poor operator training," according to a GM document filed with the NHTSA.

 

The affected cars were built from February 16, 2016, to May 12, 2016.
