2017 Lincoln MKZ earns Top Safety Pick+ rating

Lincoln's redesigned 2017 MKZ mid-size luxury sedan has earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest Top Safety Pick+ award.

 

The MKZ earned the IIHS' top rating by acing the institute's small overlap, moderate overlap, and side-impact crash tests, as well as its roof strength and head restraint tests. The MKZ's newly available front crash prevention system, which earned a top rating of superior, lifted the mid-size sedan to the IIHS' overall Top Safety Pick+ rating.

 

The MKZ's 2017 performance is a strong improvement over the outgoing model. The 2016 MKZ could only muster an acceptable rating in the small overlap test, while its crash prevention system was rated as basic.

 

In addition to its frontal collision warning system, the 2017 MKZ also features an available lane-keeping assist function that can held nudge the car back in its lane should the drive start to drift.

 

The 2017 Lincoln MKZ, available at dealers now, retails from $35,935, including a $925 destination charge.
