Seat Ateca X-Perience concept focuses on enhanced off-road capability

Even though it’s being billed as a “stand concept,” the Ateca X-Perience looks pretty much ready to hit the assembly line and chances are Seat will make very few changes for the production car. It’s likely due to go on sale next year to join the other rugged member of the family, the Leon X-Perience.

 

To further set it apart from the regular Ateca, VW’s Spanish division has given the concept a bespoke set of 18-inch wheels shod in high-profile tires and it has also slapped on additional plastic cladding on the predominately olive green matte body. As you would expect from a model with proper off-road intentions, the X-Perience concept comes as standard with a 4x4 layout with a Haldex clutch. It also has a Hill Descent Control function along with a variety of selectable driving modes, including one for snow and another one for off-road.

 

The concept bound to show up in Paris at Seat’s stand is going to be equipped with a turbodiesel 2.0-liter engine producing 190 horsepower (140 kilowatts) and 400 Newton-meters (295 pound-feet) of torque delivered to both axles through a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

 

Following its premiere in concept guise at the car show in France’s capital, the Seat Ateca X-Perience will probably go on sale at some point next year and is going to sit on top of the range.
