The 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback goes on sale in the United States on September 26 for a base price of $20,535 (after $835 destination for all models) for the LX trim with a six-speed manual gearbox. Opting for the CVT would push the cost to $21,355.

 

Customers looking for more performance should consider the new Sport and Sport Touring trims. You can distinguish them on the outside by upgrades like the center-mounted twin exhaust pipes. Like all versions of the Civic Hatchback, this pair uses the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, but it makes 180 horsepower (134.2 kilowatts) compared to 174 hp (129.8 kW) in the other models. Torque jumps to 177 pound-feet (240 Newton-meters) with a six-speed manual or 162 lb-ft (219.6 Nm) with the CVT. Regular Civics make 167 lb-ft (226.4 Nm) with a manual transmission and 162 lb-ft with a CVT.

 

The Sport trim costs $22,135 with a manual or $22,935 with the CVT. The models share more of the equipment with the base LX version, but they also benefit from upgrades like leather upholstery for the steering wheel and gearshift.

 

The Sport Touring goes on sale later as the range-topping trim, and Honda doesn’t yet have pricing for it. The CVT is the only available gearbox. The models include amenities like automatic windshield wipers, heated seats for the front and rear, dual-zone climate control, and a 12-speaker stereo.

 

For customers who don’t want the extra power, there are also the EX for $23,635 and EX-L Navi at $26,135. They use the less powerful tune of the turbocharged engine but benefit from features like heated front seats and LED interior accent lighting.
