2017 Nissan Note facelift leaks, hybrid model in Japan

Leaked photos indicate that Japan is getting a refreshed Nissan Note with a bolder nose, and the Versa Note in the United States might eventually get the updated look, too. At least in Japan, a new hybrid model also accompanies the facelift.

 

This update is hard to call beautiful, but it’s certainly eye-catching. Nissan’s V Motion grille has a prominent place in front, and the vertical portions connect to larger headlights. The grille is far smaller than the current design. There’s also a new lower fascia with rectangular foglights at the corners and a broad intake in the center. The side mirrors have small protrusions on the bottom that could be for cameras or blind spot monitoring.

 

There’s a possibility that this facelift might not only be for Japan. Nissan also sells this model as the Note in Europe and the Versa Note in the U.S. Since this is a global vehicle, the automaker might introduce this upgrade to other countries.

 

Charts show that the internal combustion engine can either act as a generator for recharging the battery or work with the electric motor for propelling the vehicle. Unlike the updated design, this green powertrain might remain exclusive to the Japanese market because Nissan already offers different drivetrains and trims of the Note in each region.

 

According to Indian Autos Blog, the refreshed Versa Note should debut in Japan in October and go on sale there in November. If the updates expand to Europe and the U.S, the facelifted version probably wouldn’t arrive at dealers until after 2017.
