The front is immediately distinguishable as an XF — even under all that camo — as are the wheels, which look to be borrowed from an F-Type. The rear, while hard to make out clearly, looks to have carried over most of the same lines from the previous generation.
On schedule for a 2017 launch, the new XF Sportbrake will undoubtedly improve upon the 19 cubic-feet (550 liters) of space available in the outgoing generation with the rear seats in place, and 59 cubic-feet (1,675 liters) of space available with the seats folded down. You'll also be able to find a range of new engine options under the hood.
Expected to downsize from the 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine currently available, the new XF Sportbrake will opt for a more efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, available in both gasoline and diesel. Move up from there, and a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 is expected to produce somewhere in the neighborhood of 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts). And at the top of the range, an available 5.0-liter V8 will have as much as 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts) on tap, if not more.
The new XF Sportbrake will make its world debut next year, either at the Geneva Motor Show in March, or Frankfurt Motor Show in September, before it goes on sale late in 2017 for the 2018 model year. No word on pricing or market availability just yet.
