Renault has officially released the 2017 ZOE subcompact in Europe, making it the longest-range EV among mainstream production vehicles.

While the tiny Renault doesn't offer the potential range of larger vehicles like Tesla's Model S, the range-topping Z.E.40 boasts a 250-mile NEDC rating, making it tops among affordable automobiles.

The real-world range of the ZOE is actually much less. In temperate climates, customers should expect 186 miles on a single charge. Extreme cold will reduce that to roughly 124 miles.

But the good news is that the tiny ZOE checks in with a base MSRP in the U.K. of just ￡13,995.
