Buick teases Velite PHEV concept ahead of Guangzhou auto show
General Motors has released its first teaser image for the Velite concept, due to make its formal debut at the Guangzhou auto show.

The concept is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain, previewing upcoming PHEV production models that will eventually be launched under the new Buick Blue sub-brand.

GM has remained mum on specific details, simply promising the Velite's PHEV system will pair a gasoline direct-injection engine with the company's "latest modular intelligent electric drive system" and a modular lithium-ion battery pack.

It is unclear if the powertrain or chassis architecture may be closely related to the Chevrolet Volt or Cadillac CT6 PHEV, though GM considers the Volt to be a range-extended EV rather than a PHEV.
