In a town of movie moguls and millionaires, it's save to expect the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S is right at home for its premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Performance car aficionados would certainly spot the more aggressive fascias, wider fenders, and dual exhaust outlets at each corner. However, the parts aren't so ostentatious that they would instantly grab the attention of regular drivers.

Under the latest sedan from Affalterbach's hood, the performance division installs the 4.0-liter biturbo V8. The powerplant makes 603 horsepower (450 kilowatts) and 627 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) in this application, and it routes with a nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox to the 4Matic all-wheel drive system. The result of these impressive figures is a run to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in 3.3 seconds and to an eventual top speed of 155 mph (250 kph). Especially in image-conscious L.A, we suspect most customers opt for the AMG Driver's Package that cuts back the limiter for a 186-mph (300-kph) maximum velocity.
