Near-production Infiniti QX50 concept may debut in Detroit
Infiniti is potentially working on yet another take of its QX Sport Inspiration concept crossover for the North American International Auto Show in January.
According to Automotive News Europe, Infiniti President Roland Krueger confirmed the vehicle in Detroit would be an evolution of the QX Sport Inspiration.

Infiniti hasn’t kept a secret about the QX Sport Inspiration previewing the next-generation QX50. The concept adapts the brand’s modern styling to a midsize crossover. There are strong creases in the hood, and these cues carry into the deep character line along the side. The steeply arched D-pillar gives the crossover a coupe-like profile at the back. The rear fascia uses a stylized diffuser and integrated chrome-outlined exhaust tips. The interior of concepts often doesn’t directly translate to production, so it’s unlikely that the driver-focused cockpit and fully digital dashboard arrive in showrooms.

Infiniti has not discussed the QX Sport Inspiration’s powertrain. However, there are two likely options. The biturbo 3.0-liter V6 from the Q50 and Q60 is one option. It makes 300 or 400 horsepower (234 or 298 kilowatts) depending on the tune. The company’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with variable compression is another option. By adjusting the piston stroke, the compression ratio can vary from 8:1 to 14:1 and produce 268 hp (200 kW) and 289 pound-feet (390 Newton-meters) of torque.
