Lamborghini Aventador S debuts with more power, rear-wheel steering
Lamborghini has released its latest raging bull, in the form of the new 2017 Aventador S. It’s a more powerful, more advanced take on the Aventador and benefits from a range of upgrades, including four-wheel steering.
The new Aventador S benefits from a host of exterior tweaks, all aimed at improving the car’s aerodynamics. Changes include new air ducts, a sharper nose and a deeper front splitter.
Power still comes from a 6.5-liter V-12 with cylinder deactivation technology but changes to the valve timing and the exhaust—now 20 percent lighter—has seen output boosted to 730 horsepower and 509 pound-feet of torque. That’s up from 691 hp previously. Peak torque is unchanged but according to Lamborghini the torque curve has been made flatter, which should lead to improved response. Finally, maximum revs has been increased from 8,350 to 8,500 rpm.
The 0-62 mph time and top speed remain unchanged, coming in at 2.9 seconds and 217 mph, respectively. And the car’s dry weight comes in at 3,472 pounds.
The Aventador S will make its world debut next March at the 2017 Geneva auto show. Deliveries will start the following spring.
The starting price for the United States has been confirmed at $421,350.
