2017 Honda CR-V Earns Tougher IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Rating
Honda's 2017 CR-V has earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The 2017 CR-V scored top marks in all of the IIHS’ crash tests, including the often difficult small overlap evaluation. The agency found no significant risk of injury in any collision that it put the crossover through.
The 2017 CR-V scores the maximum six points for its front crash prevention system, which earns the model a Superior rating. The 2017 CR-V’s headlights caused the crossover to miss getting perfect scores in every evaluation. The IIHS gave the LED units on the Touring trim an Acceptable rating, one step below the top Good ranking. The agency found that the low beams were inadequate when taking a gradual left turn. Meanwhile, the high beams weren’t good enough at illuminating the left side of the road when going straight or when taking a sharp left corner.
The halogen lights on the EX-L, EX, and LX trims scored a Marginal rating – a further ranking below Acceptable. Neither the low nor the high beams were adequate when turning left.
