BMW posts a 'whiff' of the next Z roadster
BMW has posted a teaser image for the next Z-series roadster, which could be crowned the Z5 or keep the Z4 nameplate from its predecessor.
The new Z will be underpinned by a new rear-wheel-drive platform architecture co-developed by engineers at BMW and Toyota. It is expected to be offered initially with BMW's turbocharged four- and six-cylinder powertrains, though some rumors suggest a hybrid system with Toyota roots will eventually be added to the lineup.
Recent spy shots revealed the roadster's overall proportions and appeared to confirm a conventional soft top rather than a retractable hardtop.
