Ford EcoSport Facelift Revealed With Sporty ST-Line Option
Ford has finally given the European version of the EcoSport a proper facelift, bringing the model closer to its main rivals on the Old continent. Going on sale later this year, it will deliver “enhanced versatility and capability, more refined styling and sophisticated technologies.”
Behind this bold statement, the refreshed EcoSport hides a new sporty ST-Line model with significantly revised design featuring new 17- or 18-inch wheels, darkened radiator grille, new projector headlights, and sporty accents at the rear end.
But there’s more to the new EcoSport than the prettier package. Underneath the fancy clothes, the refreshed crossover comes with a new 1.5-liter diesel engine with 125 horsepower (93 kilowatts) and a combined fuel consumption of only 52 miles per gallon (4.5 liters per 100 kilometers). Another important addition is the company’s intelligent AWD system, also offered for the Kuga, Mondeo, S-Max, and Edge on the European continent. From mid-2018, Ford will offer a newly-developed six-speed automatic transmission with low friction for the 1.5 diesel model, ensuring even lower fuel consumption. Starting next year, also available will be an entry-level 100-hp (75-kW) version of Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbo unit.
A number of new safety and assist technologies will be introduced for Ford’s smallest SUV, including the latest generation SYNC3 infotainment system with Fiesta-inspired, tablet-style eight-inch screen, cruise control with adjustable speed limited, rear view camera, blind spot information system, roll stability control, and more.
