China's Chery Launches In Europe With Exeed Brand, Hybrid SUV
One of China’s biggest automakers and the country’s leading vehicle exporter, Chery, is starting its European affair at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. During the IAA, the company has introduced its new brand, Exeed, which will release “an all-new model line of passenger cars” globally.
The first model of the newly-formed marque is called the TX – a compact SUV, based on an entirely new platform, designed in cooperation with “the world’s leading suppliers” to host electrified powerplants. Just like the Hyundai Ioniq, it will be offered as a conventional hybrid, a PHEV, and a purely-electric vehicle with the first to arrive on the market planned to be the plug-in hybrid.
The TX PHEV will combine a 1.5-liter gas engine with 147 horsepower (110 kilowatts) and a 114-hp (85-kW) electric motor, paired to a seven-speed automatic gearbox and an intelligent all-wheel drive. The 0-62 miles per hour (0-100 kilometers per hour) acceleration should take no more than six seconds, according to Chery, while the average fuel consumption will be 130 miles per gallon (1.8 liters per 100 kilometers) as per the NEDC.
In addition, the SUV will be capable of running up to 43 miles (70 kilometers) on electric energy at speeds of up to 75 mph (120 kph). A fast charge will recover up to 80 percent of the battery in 30 minutes, while a complete recharge in a 220-volt system will require four hours.
