Citroen C3 Aircross Shows Up In Frankfurt With Quirky Design Cues
Gone is the Citroen C3 Picasso, in its place, and on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show, is the funky new C3 Aircross. Poised to take on rivals like the Nissan Juke and Kia Stonic directly, the C3 Aircross is the smallest SUV in the Citroen lineup, and is now available throughout Europe, not just Latin America like the outgoing Picasso.
Split headlights and unique alloy wheels are paired with a two-tone exterior, with some handsome detailing on both the front and rear diffuser. The interior matches that likable exterior finish with a number of unique leather and cloth color options, while the trunk is spacious enough to fit 410 liters of cargo, with an impressive 1,289 liters with the rear seats folded down.
Along with all that space, the C3 Aircross comes equipped with an entire suite of safety systems, including lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and even a fatigue-sensing system. Buyers will also get a seven-inch infotainment system, a heads-up display, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
Under the hood is a trio of PureTech engines developing anywhere from 81 to 128 horsepower (60 to 95 kilowatts). Three BlueHDi diesel options will also be available, producing 89 to 188 hp (66 to 140 kW). Power will be sent to the front wheels exclusively, but a selectable Grip Control system will be offered with a variation of driving models to enhance grip on slippery surfaces.
