Spied: 2019 BMW X3 M
BMW has been spotted testing its upcoming X3 M performance SUV around Germany's Nurburgring. Based on the latest-generation X3, the X3 M will compete against the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63.
It appears the transformation from X3 to X3 M will be rather subtle, with the only visible changes being to the SUV's front and rear bumpers. A rear spoiler has also been fitted. However, BMW could add things like fender flares and additional air vents before the X3 M makes regular production.
The X3 M will likely be powered by the same 425 horsepower 3.0L turbocharged six-cylinder found beneath the hood of the M3. However, unlike the M3, the X3 M will use BMW's xDrive all-wheel drive system and come standard with an automatic transmission. The 0-60 run should flash by in about 4 seconds.
Being an M car, the X3 M will also feature upgraded brakes and a sport-tuned suspension. The brand's signature quad-exhaust outlets can be seen on the rear of this prototype.
No official launch date has been locked down, but look for the BMW X3 M to go on sale sometime during the second half of 2018.
