Honda Odyssey regains Top Safety Pick Plus status
The Honda Odyssey has regained its Top Safety Pick Plus status for the 2018 model year. The Odyssey was the first minivan to achieve TSP+ status in 2013, thanks to structural enhancements that improved its small-overlap test rating.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety tightened its qualification criteria this year, requiring vehicles to have an advanced- or superior-rated front crash prevention system and acceptable results in the new headlight assessment program.
The 2017 Odyssey was available only with forward collision warning and its headlights weren't evaluated at the time. The 2018 edition adds a new emergency-braking feature that avoided collisions at 12 mph and 25 mph, worthy of a 'superior' label.
Buyers choosing the Elite or Touring trim lines receive LED reflector headlights with high-beam assist, which earned an 'acceptable' rating.
