Land Rover developing an off-road focused Discovery model

According to a recent report, Land Rover is developing a ruggedized model to battle the Toyota Land Cruiser.

 

Details are limited but Autocar is reporting the model will become part of the Discovery family when it is launched in 2017. Little else is known about the crossover but it is expected to ride on an aluminum platform and favor off-road ability over driving dynamics.

 

According to the British publication, Land Rover won a lot of people over with the off-road capability of the outgoing Discovery so it's likely that the new model will attempt to appeal to these critical buyers.

 

There's no word on specifications but the model could cost between ￡36,000 and ￡56,000.
