BMW i9 coming in 2016, could be based on the i8 - report

According to a recent report, BMW is gearing up to launch an i9 in 2016.

 

Details are limited but the model will reportedly be a four-door sports car that is based on the i8.

 

Little else is known about thecar but it would presumably feature carbon fiber construction and i8's plug-in hybrid powertrain that consists of a 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery. This means the model could have a combined maximum output of 362 PS (266 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque.
