Skoda Yeti Xtreme unveiled with 'rally car ambitions'

Skoda has fully revealed the Yeti Xtreme concept which will get its first public outing on May 28 at W?rthersee.

 

Described as being a "compact SUV with rally car ambitions", the matte grey Yeti Xtreme has received a muscular body kit with large air intakes in the front bumper, flared wheel arches and a height-adjustable chassis. It boasts two hexagonal exhaust pipes and has received underbody protection to create a more rugged appearance.

 

Under the hood is a 4-cylinder, 1.8-liter TSI with 150 PS (110 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) sent to both axles through a six-speed DSG transmission. It will do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 9 seconds before topping out at 120 mph (192 km/h).

 

Other highlights include Octavia RS-sourced brakes, tinted windows, 17-inch alloys shod in chunky off-road tires and LED headlights. On the inside there are four individual Recaro seats with built-in four-point safety belts, carbon fiber door panels, along with a thermos flask built into the holders installed in the paneling. It also comes with an aluminum floor panel while in the trunk there's a spare wheel together with "recovery tracks" which are in fact traction mats used when the car gets stuck.

 

At W?rthersee next weekend, Skoda will also bring the CitiJet concept which is an open-top conversion of the Citigo developed by the company's apprentices.
