2015 / 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan mule spied up close

A mule for the 2015 / 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan has been spied undergoing testing in the Alps.

 

Decked out in sensors and pulling a trailer, the mule reveals little about the upcoming production model. However, the interior photo shows Volkswagen is already testing some new components including a new steering wheel, a revised speedometer and what appears to be a freestanding infotainment system.

 

While there isn't much to see, the redesigned model is expected to ride on the MQB platform and be offered with a variety of four-cylinder engines. Nothing is official but previous reports have suggested there will be a 1.4-liter TSI, a 1.6-liter TDI with 110 PS (81 kW) and a 2.0-liter TDI with outputs ranging from 150-184 PS (110- 135 kW).

 

Three body styles are expected including a five-door coupe and a long-wheelbase variant that measures approximately 4990mm long. The latter crossover is slated to offer seating for seven and be significantly cheaper than the Touareg.
