新一代途观将把日产逍客和福特翼虎作为竞争车型,将提供五座和七座两种车型。在上市之初，途观将提供车厂所称的标准轴距版本，轴距长度与现行版一样，为2605毫米，内部设双排座椅，可搭乘五名乘客。第二款为长轴距版以便增加第二排腿部空间并增加第三排座椅，可搭乘七名乘客。七座版将在2016年北美车展发布。七座版将首先供应美国、中东和中国市场，随后销往欧洲市场。第二代途观与第七代高尔夫和刚刚发布的欧版帕萨特同样基于大众MQB平台，将搭载一系列四缸汽油和柴油引擎。标配前轮驱动，绝大多数版本可提供4Motion作为选装件。至于动力系统，在英国上市的车型将搭载1.4、1.8和2.0升汽油引擎以及1.6和2.0升柴油引擎。另外大众还在开发汽油电动插电混动版。

 

VW plans five and seven-seat versions of new Tiguan

The new Tiguan will rival the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Ford Kuga and be produced in two distinct models.

 

The initial second-generation Tiguan model features what is described as a standard wheelbase that is similar in length to the existing car’s 2605mm and an interior with two rows of seats to accommodate up to five occupants.

 

A second Tiguan model will have a long wheelbase for added rear legroom and a third row of seats for up to seven occupants. The seven-seater is scheduled to get an airing at the Detroit motor show in early 2016, the same VW engineering sources have confirmed.

 

The new seven-seater has been conceived primarily for the US, Middle East and China but will be sold in Europe as part of VW’s plan to position future models further upmarket in a bid to increase profitability.

 

Based around Volkswagen’s flexible MQB platform - as found beneath the latest Golf and newly unveiled European Passat - the second-generation Tiguan is set to receive an extended range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. Most models will have the option of 4Motion all-wheel drive in addition to standard front-wheel drive.

 

Among the engines expected to be offered in the UK are 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol units, along with 1.6 and 2.0 diesels. A petrol-electric plug-in hybrid is also under development.
