2016 Jaguar XE arrives in Detroit

Jaguar has staged the North American debut of the XE in Detroit.

 

Set to go on sale in the United States next year, the XE features a stylish exterior with a prominent grille, sweptback headlights and large air intakes. The sporty styling continues further back as there's front fender vents, flowing bodywork and an attractive roofline.

 

The cabin has drawn some ire for being less than luxurious but it features a number of high-techoptions including a new InControl infotainment system and an assortment of Meridian audio systems with up to 15 speakers.

 

Jaguar was coy on U.S. engine options but confirmed plans to offer the high-performance XE S which features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 that develops 340 bhp (253 kW) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.9 second before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
