Toyota RAV4 Hybrid brings its blend of fuel-efficiency & performance to Frankfurt

Toyota has introduced the Euro-spec RAV4 Hybrid at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

 

Looking virtually identical to the North American variant, the European model has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle petrol engine, an electric motor, a nickel-metal hydride battery and an electric continuously variable transmission. The model will be available with front- and all-wheel drive and the latter variant features an additional electric motor that powers the rear wheels.

 

In terms of performance, the RAV4 Hybrid has a combined maximum output of 197 PS (145 kW). It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 180 km/h (111 mph). More importantly, the crossover consumes 4.9 L/100 km (48 mpg US / 57.6 mpg UK) and has CO2 emissions as low as 115 g/km.
