2017 Jaguar F-Type gains a new entry-level model, lower base price

The Jaguar F-Type has always been an interesting proposition but it's relatively high-price has been a bit of a distraction. However, the company is hoping to change that by introducing the 2017 F-Type which features a new entry-level variant that will be available as a coupe and roadster.

 

Despite being significantly cheaper than its predecessor, the models feature a solar attenuating windshield, a valet mode and a partially electric driver's seat. The cars also have leather / suede cloth seats, GPS navigation and a Meridian surround sound system.

 

Power is provided by a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 340 bhp (253 kW) and 332 lb-ft (449 Nm) of torque. The engine is connected to a standard six-speed manual transmission which enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds before hitting a top speed of 161 mph (259 km/h).

 

The entry-level coupe starts at $61,400 while the convertible retails for $65,400. That's still not pocket change but the prices have been lowered by $3,600 and $2,700 respectively.

 

The 2017 F-Type will arrive at U.S. dealerships next spring and the aforementioned prices exclude an $995 destination charge.
