2017 Chevy Bolt spied in Palm Springs photo shoot

A month before its official debut at CES, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt has been photographed without any sort of disguise.

 

It was spotted during a photo shoot in Palm Springs featuring some rather significant changes compared to the concept shown at the beginning of the year in Detroit. Overall, it sends a BMW i3 vibe combined with a Nissan-like treatment for the C-pillar to create the illusion of a floating roofline.

 

At this point we can’t really tell what’s going on inside the cabin, although it’s safe to assume it won’t be as futuristic as the namesake concept. Chances are it will source many of the components from the 2016 Volt, but we’ll just have to wait and see about that.

 

The electric city car will come to life as a result of a partnership with LG and aims to offer “spirited performance” and a maximum range of more than 200 miles (321 km). While the i3 is also available with an optional range-extending gasoline engine, Chevrolet will sell the Bolt only as a pure EV.

 

General Motors has already announced the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt will carry a starting price of around $30,000, if we factor in federal incentives. It will be built in Michigan and should arrive at dealerships in 50 states at the beginning of 2017.
