
大众近日宣布计划为车厂未来的电动车开发扁平电池。大众的柴油车排放造假丑闻迫使车厂做出更大努力开发电动车,因此车厂将加大力度开发电动车用扁平电池。车厂研发部门主管表示,随着电动车需求的增加,自主研发车用电池可有效降低生产成本。另外,大众还将建立一个名为“新大众”(New Volkswagen)的业务部门专门开发数字设备及其相关移动服务业务。车厂还将需要投入更多资金开发软件和电池产品。大众旗下奥迪品牌将在2018年推出纯电动跨界车。该车是大众e-tron quattro概念车的衍生产品,很可能会被命名为“Q6”。除了这款车,还有辉腾电动版,但这款车的发布已经被延后,或许要等到2020年才会发布。
VW working on flat batteries for future electric vehicles
Volkswagen has announced its intentions to work on flat batteries that will be integrated in the company’s future EVs.
The Dieselgate saga is forcing VW to boost R&D efforts for electrification and this is why the large automotive conglomerate is getting ready to adopt flat batteries. VW brand boss, Herbert Diess, says the company estimates there will be a substantially increased demand for electric vehicles in the future as range keeps increasing while the costs are going down.
In related news, Herbert Diess said VW is establishing a new business segment entitled “New Volkswagen” that will bring together the development of digital features as well as related mobility services. He went on to specify the company needs to invest more in software development and battery production as part of a business plan revamp.
We remind you VW-owned Audi has announced its intentions to come out with a pure electric crossover in 2018. It will be an evolution of the e-tron quattro concept and will likely be sold with the “Q6” moniker. Another EV on the agenda is the Phaeton, but this has been pushed back and will probably come out around the end of the decade.
