Mercedes C-Class Convertible spied virtually undisguised

The 2017 Mercedes C-Class Convertible has been spied virtually undisguised.

 

Set to become the brand's entry-level drop top, the C-Class Convertible follows in the footsteps of the coupe but adopts a retractable soft top and a slightly revised rear end with new body panels and a modified trunk. To keep occupants comfortable when the top is down, the car has a windscreen-mounted air deflector and a power retractable wind stop that is located behind the rear seats.

 

Unsurprisingly, the interior carries over from the coupe and features a three-spoke steering wheel, circular air vents and a free-standing COMAND infotainment system. We can also expect airscarf seats and new controls for the soft top.

 

Engine options will mimic the coupe and include a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 241 bhp (179 kW) and 273 lb-ft (370 Nm) of torque as well as a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 362 bhp (270 kW) and 382 lb-ft (517 Nm) of torque. Later down the road we can expect to see a Mercedes-AMG C63 Convertible with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that has outputs of 469 bhp (349 kW) and 479 lb-ft (648 Nm) of torque as well as 503 bhp (375 kW) and 516 lb-ft (698 Nm) of torque.

 

The Mercedes C-Class Convertible is expected to be introduced in early to mid-2016, so look for a possible debut at the Geneva Motor Show.
