2016.5 Mazda CX-5 introduced with minor updates

Mazda has introduced the 2016.5 CX-5 crossover.

 

Since the model was introduced a little over a year ago, the mid-year updates are pretty minor as they focus on streamlining the crossover's trim level structure and providing customers with better value.

 

Without further ado, all 2016.5 CX-5 models gain additional standard equipment including a rearview camera on vehicles equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission. The mid-level CX-5 Touring also gains heated front seats and GPS navigation, while the ranging-topping Grand Touring boasts a standard navigation system.

 

The changes are small but they should save consumer some money as the newly standard equipment used to be available exclusively in packages that cost up to $1,625.

 

Engine options carryover and include a 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder with 155 hp (115 kW) and 150 lb-ft (203 Nm) of torque. Higher-end variants are powered by a 2.5-liter SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine that produces out 184 hp (137 kW) and 185 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the entry-level variant but a majority of the models have a six-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard but all-wheel drive continues to be optional.

 

The 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 will on sale in January and U.S. pricing starts at $21,795 and tops out at $29,870.
