路虎将于明年发布第五代发现，目前新车开发已经进入最后阶段。路虎设计总监麦戈文（Gerry McGovern）在上月的洛杉矶车展上曾表示，新一代发现至少会推出3种版本，其中七座版将率先亮相，而发现运动版的尺寸则较现款车型有所缩小。作为老款LR4的换代车型，新一代发现将基于路虎全新铝平台打造而成，与全新揽胜及其运动版共享平台。得益于大量轻量化材质的使用，新一代发现的整备质量相比现款车型（采用T5钢材质底盘）大幅减轻。对于英国及欧洲市场，路虎将为新一代配备3.0升SDV6柴油引擎；而轻度混动版发现将搭载Ingenium四缸引擎，该车将稍晚推出。在外观设计上，新一代路虎发现借鉴了发现Vision Concept概念车的设计理念，更突出现代感和运动风格，同时不丧失现行版的多功能特性麦戈文表示：“新车将是一款高端商务车，更像揽胜，但我们不会弄乱，而是会取得平衡。”据悉，新一代发现还将采用一系列捷豹路虎最新开发的技术，比如激光扫描系统（laser scanning system）也将运用于新一代发现车型上，其通过扫描路面状况来自动调节悬挂和传动系统，并为车辆提供导航路线；远程泊车系统则可以让车辆在狭小空间停车时更加轻松方便。据内部人士透露，2016款路虎将在捷豹路虎英国索利哈尔（Solihull）工厂投产。

 

2016 Land Rover Discovery due next year

The all-new fifth generation of the Land Rover Discovery is set to receive its world premiere next year, according to a recent report.

 

Two months ago we saw the British company is already working on the successor of the Discovery and now Autocar is saying the automaker is putting the finishing touches to the model. At first we’ll see a seven-seat model that will sit on top of a family of “a minimum of three” Discovery models, Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern told the magazine revealed at the last Los Angeles Motor Show.

 

Back to the new seven-seat Discovery, it will be based on the same aluminium platform that also underpins the current Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. This will result in significant weight saving compared to the Discovery 4 that uses the T5 ladder chassis. An updated 3.0-liter SDV6 diesel unit will be the core engine for UK and Europe, while a mild hybrid with a four-cylinder Ingenium motor is planned for a later date.

 

In terms of design, the Disco 5 will be heavily influenced by the Discovery Vision Concept revealed in April last year at the New York Auto Show. The main goal for Land Rover will be to create a modern-looking and sporty SUV, without losing the versatility of the current model. “There will be a premium execution in Discovery, more Range Rover-like,” McGovern said. “But we need to not confuse and get the balance right.”

 

Last but not least, the new SUV will benefit from several first-in-class technologies, including a laser scanning system that can automatically adjust the suspension and transmission based on the road conditions, and a remote-controlled parking system for tight parking spaces.

 

Shortly after its official debut, the 2016 Discovery will join the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport at JLR’s Solihull assembly line.
